Two years ago, on the 11th of the 11th, I launched the Golden Brands membership after spending nearly an entire year doubting myself and wondering if I could make this work. I kept telling myself that I couldn’t run a membership site, that no one would want to collaborate with me, and that I didn’t have the funds to invest in this business. It felt like it would all be too hard.

Until one day in June 2022, when a psychic told me I was going to run a membership site for small business owners. That moment gave me the push I needed, and I decided to just go for it—despite all my doubt.

I simply got started.

I invested all my savings (plus $50k I didn’t have) and poured an incredible amount of time and energy into this dream… and here we are today.

While there has been SO much to celebrate within Golden Brands, this year has also come with its fair share of challenges.

I have worried about where all the money would come from to bring my dream to life.

I have worried if I’d ever grow past 100 members. 

I have worried if I’d ever be able to pay myself.

AND pay back all the personal money I’ve invested into this business.

But through all the hard work—like really hard work—I kept going. I don’t do anything in halves, and I’ve given my absolute all to this community.

And what has come out of these two years has been truly life-changing.

I’ve faced and overcome so many fears. I’ve grown immensely, both personally and professionally. And I’ve had the privilege of helping and supporting so many other small business owners smash their incredible goals. I’m so grateful for the journey and for every single one of you who has been part of it.

Here are some of the most key lessons I’ve learned over these two years:

⚡ You can’t do it all—just pick a few key things to focus on and do them REALLY well.
⚡ The biggest growth comes when you do the BIG scary things. Stepping outside your comfort zone is where breakthroughs happen.
⚡ You have to back yourself 100%. No one else can do this for you!
⚡ Everything is achievable (or as Mel Robbins says, “figureoutable”). You just need to break it down into small, simple steps.
⚡ Things will always cost more than you anticipate, and investing in your business growth will require taking risks.
⚡ You don’t need to offer everything. Simplicity is powerful. I once invested over $1,000 setting up a digital product shop and ended up scrapping it the next day. Keeping things simple is always best.
⚡ Trust what feels most in alignment for you.
⚡ Hone in on your vision and what you’re working toward. You don’t need to know your endgame (I’ve never known mine, even with four businesses under my belt!), but having a direction helps you make smart long-term decisions.

And most importantly, be patient.

I spent the last two years impatiently waiting for a big breakthrough or something to go viral and propel my business forward. But that hasn’t happened for me. Instead, it’s taken consistent effort and hard work to grow this business. And you know what? Slow growth is still growth—and it’s something to celebrate.
