AT A QUICK GLANCE YOUR RESULTS TELL ME THAT…

The one thing that will make the biggest difference to where you’re at right now in your business to step into the shoes of an Empowered Entrepreneur is to build your community! Your community will be your go-to place to grow, connect and collaborate.

It’s hard work starting a business as a solopreneur and knowing where to go for information and guidance. I’m sure your family and friends love to chime in with their opinions from time to time but *bless them*, they don’t have a clue about your business and what you really need. While Youtube and Instagram might be helpful you haven’t quite found your tribe or developed those key relationships that will have an incredible impact on your business.

Through the 3 steps outlined below, you’re going to set yourself up for success by developing true connections and the community your business needs to thrive!

YOU TICK ALL THE IMPORTANT BOXES:

Golden Brands quotations

“Entrepreneurs have a natural inclination to go it alone. While this do-it-yourself spirit can help you move forward, adding an element of collaboration into the mix can make you unstoppable.”

Ready to find your community of like-minded entrepreneurs, build real connections and discover amazing collaboration opportunities?

I know you are!

Can you imagine what it would feel like to have an incredible group of supportive like-minded business owners around you? The type of connections that become lifelong friends!

How much easier would it be in your business if you had a go-to list of businesses to network and collaborate with!

I know you’re probably thinking that sounds amazing but how am I going to achieve this? Well don’t worry, I’ve got you covered below with your step-by-step plan.

It is incredibly challenging starting out as a solopreneur, it can feel very isolating and lonely at times. I have certainly experienced these feelings but now that I have a network of incredible business owners I can lean on for advice, support and to celebrate my wins with, I feel so much more supported in my business journey and I know you can experience this too!

Firstly let’s look at the community you already have around you:

  1. I want you to write down the friends and family members that you go to for business advice, if it’s not relevant then skip this step.
  2. Let’s now look at your extended community. Are there other local business owners in your industry that you’ve created relationships with or that you could connect with?

Now take those names and group them into one of three categories:

Accountability Partners – Those that can keep you accountable

Business Coach – Those that understand your industry and can provide valuable feedback/insights.

Business Mentor – Anyone who is outside your industry but understands business well and can be a go-to person for giving you general advice and feedback. This might just be a second opinion.

From my experience, these are the three different types of people I’ve found incredibly valuable to have in my business. A partner to keep me accountable, a mentor to provide general business advice, and a coach (who I found through reaching out to and connecting with on Instagram) who knows my industry and can provide specific value and insight.

The next step is to explore further how you will create more visibility for your brand and find more business connections to help you in your journey.

Ready to feel confident and supported approaching each stage of your business?

Here is your three step plan:

STEP 1 - Build Visibility

Golden Brands quotations

“Creating visibility should always be one of your priorities as an entrepreneur because the more people discover you, the more success you can create”

– Carrie Green

To start to build your community and connections in business you’ll need to create some visibility for your brand and what you have to offer.

How do you do this?

Well one way of course is to leverage your Social Media channels. I don’t however want you to just think about this in terms of posting to your feed. To build true visibility you need to get into the DM’s, you need to connect and engage with your audience to start building real relationships.

No matter what platform you’re using, engaging should play a key part in your strategy.

In the past I’ve loved to use Linkedin or Instagram to build my connections and to slide into business owners DM’s. I’d make sure to always really personalise these messages. I’ll comment specifically on their business or what they have to offer – to help show that I’m genuinely interested in what they’re doing. I’ll also introduce my business and how I’d love to connect.

You’ll need to put yourself out there and speak about your vision to grow your visibility. Which brings me to my next point, the power of networking!

STEP 2 - Expand your network!

What you give in your time will come back to you.

Nurture your relationships and never underestimate the power of networking and building your connections.

When I first moved back to my home town in New Zealand, I completely disregarded my local business community. I never thought my ideal client would be here so I made zero effort to network or build connections. Boy was I wrong! This thinking really slowed my growth in that initial start-up phase.

When I started connecting with other business owners I realised my local community would support me like no other, they would send me referrals, and connect me with other similar business owners which ultimately led me to grow my business so much quicker.

Building connections and relationships with fellow business owners, no matter how insignificant they might seem, will open up doors for you!

Let’s put this into a practical action plan for your business –

  • Research all your upcoming business events and community groups in your local area that you can attend or join
  • Pick one social media platform you’re going to utilise as a tool to connect with other business owners in your industry or local market
  • Get into the Facebook groups where your community is hanging out.
  • Introduce yourself, share value and engage.

As your network grows and you start to build relationships with other business owners, consider who might be suitable for you to work with as your accountability partner, business coach or mentor. If you’re reaching out to someone to ask for their support, consider how you can also give equal value back to their business. For example, having an accountability partner works both ways and you might come across someone who can really benefit from this support too.

Golden Brands quotations

“Networking is an investment in your business. It takes time and when done correctly can yield great results for years to come.”

– Diane Helbig

STEP 3 - Create strategies for
collaborations

Now that I’ve given you some practical tips for creating visibility and building your network let’s look at how you can leverage this to create powerful collaborations in your business.

And because we love a fun fact to help show you the value in collaborations, here’s one – ‘According to American Express, brands should be collaborating 5.5+ times each year’. Also according to Collaboration platform Collabosaurus (which is one to check out), ‘90% of collaborations do not involve cash exchanges. That means, you’re leveraging currencies other than cash. Brand collaborations can be up to 25x less expensive than digital advertising’

Once you have built your network and found some wonderful like-minded business owners you need to work together! Here are some collab strategies, that you likely haven’t thought of that you could easily implement into your marketing strategy:

  • Collaborate on giveaways
    Cross-promote on social media
  • Guest speaking opportunities – on other brands podcasts, social media takeovers etc.
  • Run an event together
  • Affiliate marketing – create discounts codes for each others products/services to promote to your audience

Hi, I’m Lisa

The writer behind your quiz results!

I have been where you are – experiencing imposter syndrome, constant doubt, lack of confidence, struggling through trying to juggle a family and work balance, and I felt that I had no real community or support to guide me in business & keep me accountable.

My entrepreneurial journey started in 2013 when I decided to ditch my corporate career in Human Resources to start a Wedding Planning & Styling Business, despite nearly everyone telling me it was a bad idea!

I have started and grown 4 different businesses including this one. I’ve worked incredibly hard to reach success in my businesses and have ticked off many goals I never thought would be possible for me. I’ve earned 6 figures in my first year of business operation, I’ve worked with amazing clients and on dream projects BUT it hasn’t all been smooth sailing and I’ve certainly had my fair share of challenges and obstacles.

I believe everyone has the ability to succeed in their businesses and I’m incredibly passionate about sharing all I have learned to help others reach their own authentic version of success.
