AT A QUICK GLANCE YOUR RESULTS TELL ME THAT…

In order to step into the shoes of an Empowered Entrepreneur you need amplified action and accountability.

You have all the right ingredients for growing your business and stepping into your dream vision. You’re passionate about what you do and you know you’re capable of big things!

Now you need to go all in, take action and develop some clear strategies for keeping yourself accountable to reach your goals. With the right approach and by following our three step plan below you’ll have the tools you need!

YOU TICK ALL THE IMPORTANT BOXES:

Ready to take immediate action to work towards your authentic version of business success?

I know you are!

As an entrepreneur you will need to master the skills of taking action and keeping yourself accountable in your business. You likely don’t have a large team of staff behind you (just yet) and your business progress is reliant on the actions you take each and every day.

I know this is a lot for a small business owner to have on their plate BUT I also know you’re capable of setting yourself up for success in your business.

Golden Brands quotations

“The universe doesn’t give you what you want in your mind; it gives you what you demand with your actions.”

– Steve Maraboli

Ready to take action in your business and say goodbye to overwhelm and procrastination?

Here is your three step plan:

STEP 1 - Set Expectations

Progress won’t be possible if you don’t have your business vision and goals defined.

Your goals need to be clearly outlined. I have loved using the SMART goal framework for goal creation as well as using what I like to call micro-goals. Breaking up big goals into smaller, more manageable tasks to complete will help keep you accountable in your business.

Using this framework I want you to put together a list of your business goals for the next 30 days. Don’t think about what you need to complete in the months following this – stick to one month at a time to avoid overwhelm.

Once you’ve created your list for the 30 days, break this up into mico-goals you can complete each week of the month.

I would encourage you to use the SMART framework to apply to your goal list.
Make sure your goals are:
S: Specific
M: Measurable
A: Attainable
R: Relevant
T: Time-Bound

Now let’s work out how you’re going to measure your progress…

STEP 2 - Measure Progress

Golden Brands quotations

“Progress and goals can only be measured when they are quantified and regularly tracked”

You have your list of goals and I know you’re prepared to take action but how are you going to stay accountable?

One thing I have found that works well for me is using the Key Performance Indicator (KPI’s) system. This is something you can apply no matter what type of business you’re in or where you’re at in your business journey.

Now let’s look back at your 30 day goals and put together some KPI’s next to each.

For example, you might have some goals around sales for the month. This could be to reach a certain quantity of sales or onboard a specific number of clients throughout the month. Get specific here. You might find it helpful to pop this information into a table or google sheet with columns next to each goal to track dates, KPI’s and how you are progressing.

As I’m currently in the start-up phase of Golden Brands my goals are mainly focused around content creation. I have set myself specific targets (KPI’s) each month to assess my progress, and how I’m tracking towards my goals.

In my past career working in Recruitment I was given very specific KPI’s each month, these were around the number of sales calls I needed to make, the number of positions I needed to fill and the revenue goal I needed to hit. We checked in with the team weekly to review how we were going.

Hopefully these examples get you thinking of how KPI’s might be incorporated into your business.

Have you heard the phrase ‘date your business’? While working in your business is of course important, it pays the bills! You also need to think about how you can work on your business. Pencil out some time every week to do this, it might just be an hour or two or perhaps a whole day! Why not grab a coffee somewhere nice during this time and give yourself some uninterpreted time to take action to create your micro goals and track your progress.

This weekly ritual will help set your business up for success!

STEP 3 - Create systems for
accountability

Golden Brands quotations

“Accountability is rooted in ownership. It requires you to own the choices you make and own your outcomes too”

– Think Tyler

As a solopreneur it can be a huge struggle to keep ourselves accountable, I can speak from experience here!

There are however a few key things I would recommend you put in place in your business to create more accountability:

  •  Join a mastermind group and actively participate in the group meetings/discussions
  • Connect with other local business owners and attend regular networking events.
  • Make a point to actively get out there and speak about what you’re working on.
  • Find an accountability partner to meet with frequently
  • Invest in a business coach

I’ve found working with a business coach incredibly valuable for my business progress and to keep up the momentum. My business coach is more of an accountability partner and we work together to set monthly goals and we review my progress each month. A quick tip if you’re looking for a business mentor but are just starting out, there are opportunities to gain free access to these services through local business trusts. In New Zealand you can find this information here.

A recent study (by afcpe.org) found if you have a specific accountability appointment with a person you’ve committed to, there’s a 95% chance you will complete your goal.

How powerful is that!

You don’t have to do this alone!

Find someone who shares your values and understands your business that you can work together with to keep each other accountable.

As pointed out in Step 2 it is good to regularly evaluate your progress, look at what’s working well and what needs more attention in your business. Whether you have staff or not, having a Monday meeting to set your intentions and goals for the week and an end of week catch up/review is a great way to stay on track. You could even do this task with your accountability partner.

Progress should be acknowledged and celebrated. You’ve got this!

Hi, I’m Lisa

The writer behind your quiz results!

I have been where you are – experiencing imposter syndrome, constant doubt, lack of confidence, struggling through trying to juggle a family and work balance, and I felt that I had no real community or support to guide me in business & keep me accountable.

My entrepreneurial journey started in 2013 when I decided to ditch my corporate career in Human Resources to start a Wedding Planning & Styling Business, despite nearly everyone telling me it was a bad idea!

I have started and grown 4 different businesses including this one. I’ve worked incredibly hard to reach success in my businesses and have ticked off many goals I never thought would be possible for me. I’ve earned 6 figures in my first year of business operation, I’ve worked with amazing clients and on dream projects BUT it hasn’t all been smooth sailing and I’ve certainly had my fair share of challenges and obstacles.

I believe everyone has the ability to succeed in their businesses and I’m incredibly passionate about sharing all I have learned to help others reach their own authentic version of success.
